The DVSA states that, on average, it takes 45 hours of professional instruction and 22 hours of private practise to learn to drive. At RED, we recommend at least 47 tuition hours with an instructor and encourage having extra private lessons if possible to gain confidence and be prepared for your test.

However, if you plan on practising driving with a friend or family member, you will need to get your learner driver insurance policy.
